Eventide 26, marine ply - epoxying the bilges?

Hi, all
I've stripped the bilges in my Eventide 26 virtually back to bare wood (that was fun...). I'm now considering whether to apply a coat of epoxy before painting, perhaps just to the keelson. Is this a good thing to do, or am I better off just priming?
