Engine beds

Hi what would be the best wood to use for engine beds in a plastic boat?

the engine is a Sabb 10hp with solid mounts,

i have been offered some oak but i am not sure of its suitability.

hi Chris, Pitch pine was supposed to be the best material, but you try and get hold of some!

I used Iroko for the bearers in my Eventide, but they were bolted to existing Oak ones for the former engine, so Oak would work just the same!
