Re: Converting E24 Mainsail to Slab Reefing

I converted my main from roller reefing a while back and John has just about covered it all, i put double reefing lines in but as john has said the amount of string in the cockpit can be a problem when reefed,i have now taken the first reefing line out on the basis that if i am going to reef i might...

Re: removing my bilge keels for improved windward performanc

I would like to agree with John about adding ballast to the bottom edge of the bilge plates, in my case it was in the form of 80x12mm lengths of flat steel welded on. They added a fair bit of low down weight and as a result my E24 used to suprise quite a few newer boats with her turn of speed. I mis...

Re: Sabb diesel

Hi Jason,
sorry to hear the Sabb has broken down, would it be cost effective to repair it?
Sleeman hawkins will advise you on this and have all the spare parts.
best of luck,

Chris.

Re: Sabb diesel

Hi jason thanks for the reply,

i have been trying to PM you but its not working for some reason,
i think i will try the 15/40 oil and change it a bit more often,
as to the pressure gauge, the engine is splash lubricated so no oil pressure.
regards

chris.

Re: Sabb diesel

Thanks for the reply Jason, I have been told i am worrying about nothing, as usual. the water flow is fine and the temp gauge hardly flickers even after a longish run, have you a oil pressure gauge fitted to your engine? I would like to fit one to mine but i wouldnt know where to start! regards Chris.

Engine beds

Hi what would be the best wood to use for engine beds in a plastic boat?

the engine is a Sabb 10hp with solid mounts,

i have been offered some oak but i am not sure of its suitability.

thanks.

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Hi Chris,

the plate for the inner forestay on my bowsprit is just bolted through the bowsprit,so no need to remove it,should be the same on yours hopefully,

its quite a straightfoward job.

best of luck.

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Hi Chris, My Eventide 24 had a bit of rot on the fore deck which meant i had to take my bowsprit off, yours looks like mine, this is how i did it,its easier if theres two of you. first you need to remove the fore stay,it helps if all your rigging is slack i found esp the back stay(s) then the bob sta...

Re: It's a pity that the site is not very current

Hi John, I know what you mean,i had an Eventide 24 for five years, she was my first wooden boat and i fell in love with her, she didnt need much looking after as her hull was epoxyed and her topsides cascovered, all she needed at the start of the season was a wash down and she would look fine, her cab...
