Hi Nick,
It's best not to put your email address on an open web forum, spammers have programs that search for them and I wouldn't want you getting spammed!
Better to disguise it for example: chris[insert 'at' here]hotmail.com

Re: boatbuilding articles
Hi Sean, Welcome to the forum. I'd recommend taking lots of photos and starting a thread in the "Help" section of the forum. That way you can show others what you find and get advice on how best to proceed. As a newcomer to wooden boats I've found the advice I've received online really valuable. Get...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
Almost there now :D (Well almost almost ) The ply deck patch has been epoxied in place, the joints glass taped and then the deck epoxied and faired. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4612788912_d209d34902.jpg The iroko has then been stuck/sealed with sikaflex and screwed down. http://far...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
Another little update, apologies for the obstructed photo. Here's a dry test fit of everything back in place taken yesterday :) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4070/4568289243_5ebe362106.jpg All seems to fit pretty well (given the "quality" of my woodwork! :o), so it's time for some sanding and epoxy...

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the forum
I think John might be able to help you out with drawings. I'd for one would be really interested in following your build as it progresses
Regards,
Chris

Re: boatbuilding articles
Your thread on atheana is very interesting and just the sort of thing I would like to see more of Thanks, I always worry I'm being a little self-indulgent, but I know I find it helpful when I see similar show and tell threads. For example, I've spent most of my free time over the last week working ...

Routing a chamfered patch
Hi All, When I was getting some work done on Athaena, the chap who did the repairs on her hull appears to have routed out the area that needed replacing with a chamfered edge (hard to see in the photo). http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2516/4061950962_cf8ec8d43f.jpg He's then routed a replacement piec...

Re: boatbuilding articles
I'm really interested in seeing threads of work other members are doing on their boats, I find it really helpful to talk things through with others and hopefully it proves useful for others in the future. Like my thread on Athaena . There's a lot of this sort of information on the main website too. ...

Re: New name?
I can see where you're coming from Steve and I quite like the idea of a "Maurice Griffiths Owners Club" but I expect there are all sorts of issues using MG's name. If you Google "Maurice Griffiths owners" this site is the first result returned. Given that and how well established things are here I'm...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
One of those good days today where things came together and I'm feeling quite proud of my efforts. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/4505430001_c43b6fd0ac.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2690/4506062196_72d5b77ae3.jpg The stem fitting is now against solid wood and (amazingly) the new wood fits ...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
Well despite the tea drinking, I have a bit more progress to report. This is just a temporary dry fit of the iroko which is deliberately left wide aft of the gap where the bowsprit sits. I couldn't get any 14" wide so this is made from two planks. (Not ideal, but it did make planing the deck curve o...

Re: Kylix Handicap?
I did think that there wouldn't be an official PY but was just wondering if there is anyone else occasionally racing a Kylix and would know the PY they are sailing on. It might be worth having a word with whoever is organising the racing, they may well be agreeable to giving you a PY number that ma...
