Eventides
Hello Charlie, think the 'For Sale page' is as up to date as the sellers make it. We are always adding new items.... it is just some of the older ones do not get removed.... If they don't tell us they have sold, maybe we helped them selland they do not want to volenteer a fiver....) then they do not...

Hello Martin, dificult problem... I have just renewed the wiring on my daughter's mast, that was tricky enough with it on the back lawn.. I used the old defective wire and securely fastened a thin cord to it, then pulled it carefully through. Now to do that would mean a trip aloft in a bosuns chair,...

Found, scanned and available! I will be trying to add this file to the website as a downloadable file, just for those who are missing the Gaff rig sheet.

Steel Eventide
Hello Michael. the Eventide 26 has been stretched often, my own was, and 28ft is not unheard of. They are heavy boats in steel and sail well in a decent breeze, better if the keel has been deepened by 3" and extra weight added. As for inland waterways use, sadly at over 8ft beam she will be too wide...
Motor
Sounds like a good power unit, albeit a little on the heavy side maybe? I had a Stuart Turner 8 in my old E24, weighed in at 240lbs! I had the slightly bigger 10 hp Stuart in my E26 (27) weighed the same, replaced it with a diesel, 3 cylinder Kubuto, weighed slightly less. 200lb roughly. How much do...
soft wood
The only way to treat soft wood is to cut it out! If there is just wet wood it might dry out and then you could soak it in 'Git Rot' or a similar wood treatment. However to be sure there are no freshwater (rain) borne spores of wood rot, I wouyld cut it out. Be ruthless. remove all deck fittings nea...

Weatherhelm and ballast
Yes the Senior did have weatherhelm, but the inclusion of the short bowsprit cures it. It also allows the flying of all important light weather sails, so should be considered as standard really. A small skeg, about 9" fore and aft measurement under the hull, tapering to 6" at the bottom helps as wel...

Engine Power...
The WildDuck could just get away with 6hp, a diesel 6p would do the job ! Search about, there might just be someone with bits, like me and my Seagulls! Though I would say that although I knew of the motorcycle motors, and I was a biker back in the 60's, 70's and up to about 1980, I never saw one on ...

I have never heard of the engine you have, except in old motorcycle days, but that will be a different animal! If you are having that much trouble turning it over I would suspect it has oil in the crankcase. That will give exactly the symptoms you have. Old Stuart Turners had crank case drain plugs ...

Gosh have not heard anyone using white lead for 25 years or more! today it would be banned on health grounds in the UK but to be honest there are far better products available! If you need a flexible mastic like glue I would go for 'Sikaflex' or similar. Stick wall and seal anything. I have over the...

Yes Dave high time! Check along the bottom of the keel with a magnet. If the magnet does not drop off all the way along then I would suspect a drilled cast iron keel and you simply have to exert enough pressure on a long tommy bar on the heads inside, however if they are nuts inside I bet you will f...

Keel bolts!
Hi Paul, here is a reply I just sent out to another member, in NZ! Removing the bolts from the bilge keels should be relatively easy, they are normally dome headed coach bolts and provide they are not badly rusted away, a good clout from the inside should have them out. I take it you are going to ha...
