Re: Ballast for Centreboard Senior

Years ago I repaired a 14ft heavy clinker dinghy for a friend. His wooden centre board had a row of 3" round lead weights fixed into it along the lower forward edge. cannot recall how they were fixed, they almost appeared to be jammed in, maybe glued. As the board was 3/4 thick these were not terrib...

Re: Ballast for Centreboard Senior

Hi Martin, I can see that the centre plate could be used to control weather helm, to an extent, by not lowering it a lot, just enough for it to be out of the slot. That would increase lateral resistance aft. As you lower it further its centre of resistance moves forward, thus would increase weather ...

Re: Plans for Waterwitch in steel £10

hello Peter, as you may realise we now give away sets of these drawings for £5.00 on CD, but as it does cost a few pounds to get the paper copies printed I think I could offer you the £10.00 and simply offer them for sale on the main site's For Sale page, or if you wished, could advertise thenm on t...

Re: Any help with info on a steel Waterwitch

Hello Alistair,

Will be posting a picture on the WW gallery pages shortly, good luck trying to find out more.

Name of boat, a sail number, former owners names or hints of former boat names etc will help.

Regards,
John

Re: wanted

Hello Dan, if you would like an advert on the main site, simply send a few pictures and text and I will do the rest! No fee, but a small donation to the EOG, on sale appreciated. There are a few Roach class boats about but we have scant info on them, I'm guessing they were all built at a boat yard o...

Re: How to keep bilges dry

Hello Claytos, The standard Eventide is designed with the cockpit floor too low to self drain, so either you have to allow water to drain into the bilge and that means the whole boat, (would be dangerous to seal off the rear end and just let the back end fill, she could alter trim and fill....) Or y...

Re: MG MEDUSA

Hello There Stuart. Good to see this on the Forum, we are trying to attract owners here so they can speak to one another! We have so little on the Medusa, do you think it would be possible to mail these pictures directly to us at enquiries@eventides.org.uk so we can also place them on the gallery fo...

Re: Solid fuel stoves

Hi Tim, I have asked on the main site to see if I can tempt an answer out of anyone....

Sadly not been shipmates with one so cannot answer.

With the temperature down to minus 2 tonight I can see the attraction if you were staying aboard!

John

Re: Waterwitch

Hi Michael, Under stand what you mean now! I altered the Ballast on my Eventide 24, many, many years ago. It increased the draft by 4 inches by adding 500lb to the keel! Add to that I deepened the keel in line with later drawings by 4 inches and from that day on, she sailed! There were a lot of Even...

Re: Plastimo 608T spar

Just browsing and seen your post. by now you will have sorted it no doubt.... I have had luck with items like this by contacting riggers and mast suppliers, who often have bits of old gear saved 'just in case'.

This is just for others who may have similar problems..

Re: Boat name register

Just found your post... sorry we have had problems... I would say it is great to be unique, but if you like the name, no rules or laws say you cannot have it. The only exception would be if you wanted Lloyds Full Registration, then it might have the be II or V or the like! I know there are a few 'Fi...
