Re: Eventide Prop Size
Your reply was very comprehensive, John. In the event I went for a 12" x 9" prop, which was identical to what I had on my old Eventide, with a Beta 13.5 HP engine and a 2:1 reduction gearbox. On my old Eventide I got 6 knots at maximum throttle and an engine speed of 3000 RPM, in this one (same engi...

Eventide Prop Size
Help! I am trying to determine the optimum prop size for my new build 25 ft Eventide. The drawings seem to indicate 10" diameter. However, my last Eventide had a 12" x 9" prop with a 14 HP engine. Beta Marine also recommend a 12" x 9" prop for their 14 HP engine with a heavy displacement hull. There...

Re: Eventide 24 Build Questions
Hello Gary, I am delighted to hear that you are thinking of building a new Eventide, because I am half way through building one at the moment. Most people think it is madness to be spending lots of money and time on building a wooden boat designed in 1960, with all the other options available. But I...

Re: buying in eventide
Hello, I have an Eventide 24 built 1963. Her draft is 2' 9". Her bilge keels are marginally less deep so when she dries onto a hard sand bottom she just leans over a little. Unusually, she is built of pitch pine strip planking on oak frames - most were ply but some were double diagonal. The hull was...

Converting E24 Mainsail to Slab Reefing
I have sailed by Eventide 24, Niarbyl, with the original boom roller reefing for over 10 years. I sail single-handed mostly and reefing in high wind and sea is a nightmare; you have to be up at the mast with a handle and back in the cockpit pulling the sail tight at the same time! After a particular...
